UAG: a consortium of 38 universities

The Universities Advertising Group was formally established on 1 April 1997. The foundations of the group can be traced back to the 1980's when the Southern Universities Purchasing Consortium established a consortium advertising contract, (SUAG). In the intervening years membership of SUAG grew substantially and included members from purchasing consortia other than the SUPC, this eventually led to the establishment of an independent advertising group, UAG.

The UAG exists for the benefit of higher education and facilitates the procurement of cost effective recruitment advertising via negotiation with leading national media titles. The original members of UAG, through a wholly owned company, Deansgate 37 (now UAG ltd from 1 August 2008), have also supported the development of jobs.ac.uk and Adsfab (now part of Penna) thus ensuring that low cost web advertising and agency services are available to the whole H.E. sector.

There are currently 35* (full UAG ltd Category) UAG members as follows:

The Universities of: Bangor, Bath, Birmingham, Bournemouth, Bradford, Bristol, Cambridge, Gloucestershire, City, Durham, East Anglia, Edinburgh, Essex, Exeter, Hertfordshire, Hull, Kent, Leeds, Loughborough, Manchester, Newcastle, Nottingham, Oxford, Oxford Brookes, Plymouth, Reading, Roehampton, Salford, Sheffield, Southampton, Surrey, Sussex, Swansea, Warwick and West of England.

Current UAG Associate Members (3) are the University of Greenwich (2002), Imperial College (20009), and the University of Suffolk (2013).
